A Message for Family and Friends

Alpha Omega Epsilon is committed to enriching the lives of young women and helping them to achieve their goals. The values and goals upon which the organization was founded are pivotal in everything the Sorority accomplishes. Simply put, the women of Alpha Omega Epsilon perpetually strive for "friendship, leadership and professionalism." When your daughter, sister, or friend joins Alpha Omega Epsilon, you can be sure she is joining an organization with the highest ideals. From her experiences as a collegian, and one day as an alumna, she will have many opportunities to grow personally and professionally. We hope that as a parent, relative, or friend, you can continue to guide and support her through all her experiences.

Friendship is one of the core values of Alpha Omega Epsilon and is at the heart of every activity. When a member joins Alpha Omega Epsilon she can count on her sisters to always be there. It is a common sight to see A.O.E. sisters working on class assignments together, chatting over coffee, or attending each others weddings. Alpha Omega Epsilon members truly base their bonds of sisterhood in the friendships they build along the way!

Leadership is a quality all Alpha Omega Epsilon members strive for. The Sorority itself offers numerous opportunities for members to emerge as leaders at the Chapter and International level. Alpha Omega Epsilon women also continue to develop as leaders among their peers and in the community.

Professionalism is one of main values of Alpha Omega Epsilon. As members, we are forever reinventing ways to establish the female presence in the fields of engineering and technical sciences. The Sorority is dedicated to educating the community on the importance of women in these technical fields and encouraging young women to pursue technical careers. Alpha Omega Epsilon makes it a top priority to promote the welfare and interest of the profession.

Starting a New Chapter

The Sisters of Alpha Omega Epsilon are proud of the principles the Organization stands for and always welcome young women who can share in the Sorority's dreams and reap the benefits that Alpha Omega Epsilon has to offer. Establishing a new Alpha Omega Epsilon chapter is one of the most exciting events for members. Alpha Omega Epsilon is dedicated to supporting new chapters through the development phases. The IEB Director of Expansion and others work along side new chapter members to ensure the chapter has a strong and meaningful experience.

After successfully completing the steps of a colony as defined in "Colonization and Installation" the following steps should be completed to start a chapter:

  1. The colony may petition to become a chapter by contacting the IEB Director of Expansion for the application.
  2. The application to become a chapter must be submitted within 18 months of colony installation. If this cannot be done, an extension request must be submitted.
  3. Once the IEB has approved the chapter application and bylaws , installation will be scheduled and a new chapter will be born.

Alpha Omega Epsilon currently has 41 active chapters and 2 colonies. The Sorority continues to grow with the help of ambitious bring young women! Colonization and Chapter Installation

When an Alpha Omega Epsilon chapter welcomes its first group of members, the chapter is considered a colony. The colonization process includes educating students about the opportunities of creating a chapter, how to conduct informational sessions and recruitment events and plans for chapter management. The colonization process also provides guidelines for members to leverage resources from the surrounding community.

Colonies grow from a group of 8 or more dedicated young women with a desire to empower the professions of engineering and technical sciences. During the colony period, members will partake in a variety of initiation requirements such as establishing bylaws, electing officers, obtaining a minimum number of members and hosting at least one professional and philanthropic event. Once the standard initiation requirements have been met, the chapter may be installed. The International Executive Board reviews the petition for chapter installation and upon approval a new chapter is born!
